Ship’s log: Saturday, January 14, 2006

For the second time I am writing this from the GE on our way back from SBI. Kevin took the boat out this morning at 2am and we started for SBI not knowing what the water was like. If we had listened to the weather persons we should have stayed at home. The crossing was like a lake. Pulled up to SBI at 07:15 and made our first dive at “Black Caverns”. Diving was great but a little cold. Then over to “Sutil Island” diving was once again very good with 60-foot vis.
We then moved over to “Webster’s Point” and dropped the hook. Just as we set up, a set of 6 to 8 foot swells came in. We moved to “Arc Point” for the last two dives to get out of the surge. Again a great dive and several divers saw some hugh sheep head. We also saw at least 6 whales on the way to SBI and at the island.
And on the way home way saw 4 more whales. Over all a very good trip.
Once again that great saying, what a difference a day makes. Sunday was a very interesting day. We left at 06:45 and headed for Cat. The swells were not good, but not bad enough to cancel. So I was sucked into going. This is the classic, damd, if you do, damd if you don’t. Once we got to Cat the water was not good. Had to move around to find a dive sight. Finally anchored at Toquat Springs. Made two dives there and ended the day. The trip back was not the best we have done, but not that bad.
Hope to see all of you out there soon.
Until next time…………………..
