Ship’s log: Tuesday, August 30, 2005
A lot of things have happened since last I posted. We repaired all of the fire damage and when the weather cooperates, we get to run.
Over all the diving has been very good. We were at Nic a few weeks ago, and had some of the very best Vis and diving in a long time. Chris has not posted the pics yet, but will soon.
Several people have called me to ask if the GE is for sale, and the answer is yes. I have been doing this now for 9 years and it is time for a change. On the other hand I was told be a very good friend to shut the F up, Cowboy up and deal with it. This though in no way means that I will let things go down hill on the GE. Last weekend I asked one of my customers to help us redesign the galley. He is a “Black Hat Chef” and I am sure that his input will be invaluable. Chef Roberto, AKA Buckman, and I are also working on the changes. These changes will make us be able to serve you better and make it easier on the cook. (Sorry Chef).
We had a little problem this weekend that I would like to share with you.
We were scheduled to go to “Farnsworth Banks” with Sport Chalet and due to the swells I did not make it there. Instead we dove the wall at “Bird Rock” a dive that can easily exceed 130’. This is the first time since I have had the boat that I anchored here. Contrary to the belief of many divers I always try the best I can to make it to the intended destination. Of course I remember when I would go out on the boats to go diving, and not make it to where we wanted to go. I was always disappointed, and sometimes I did not understand. I always keep that in the back of my mind. I do not want any diver to be disappointed, but at the same time my ultimate goal is to exceed your expectations and return you to the dock safely.
My ex partner Roy, used to and still tells me that as long as I can sleep at night I am making the right decisions. For the most part I can sleep very well at night. On that note. I was just told last night that “Rio Rita” has been retired. It was on the Rio that I met Roy, and many, many other great people and divers. One of Roy’s best advice to me was, “never make fun of someone for what the say, and who they say they are, they may be that person”. He was 100% correct. I had meet many interesting people, and all of you are part of that.
One day on the way back to the harbor a gentleman was in the wheelhouse taking to me and somehow the subject of a “nuclear physicist” came up. He was one. I asked just what do you do? He talked about laser weapons and the future, who knows if he was real or not, but very interesting. Many of you know that I am an Elvis fan. Joe Esposito and his family will be my guests, this next year to Catalina (of course this is a private charter) and the closest I will ever get to Elvis.
One last thing. There is an old saying, “that no matter how bad off you are, there is always someone worse off”. A couple of days ago a got a call from brother moose Mike, and he told me that his Mother had cancer. He called today, and told me that the doctors now believe it may not be cancer and things are looking good.
This is best news that I have had in a very long time.

Until next time……………………………
