Heck, it has only been 3 months. Also just went on a 3 day trip that was outstanding. So I have to say something about it. It was with Reef Seekers and we had one of the best trips of all times. The first day we started at 9 Fathoms off the North West end of San Clemente. Vis was pretty good, and purple coral everywhere. Second dive was what I call "booster rocket reef" name for all of the booster rockets we find there. I think they are used for the big jets or planes that take off for practice. The next dive we moved down to "Swiss Cheese". If you ever get the chance to dive there, it is a lot of fun. There are tunnels all over the place, just like a piece of swiss cheese, hence the name. We stayed at Seal Cove for the rest of the day, and evening. Again a great place to dive when the conditions are right. At 12:00 we pulled anchor and headed for "Begg Rock". After 2 hours of getting the beat up I turned the boat to the "Sand Spit" at San Nic. Checked out going to SBI but almost 3 hours to there and only an hour and a half to Nic. And the ride was the same. At Nic and diving "Dutch Harbor Light" at 7am. Very cold. 48 degrees on the bottom. The divers opted for SBI. So off we go. First dive was at "Black Caverns" a great dive. Then off to the "Arch", followed by "Sutle Isle" and then "3 Sisters" where one of the DM's got a 32# halibut. We then went around to "Ken's Cave" near the rookery, and stayed for the night. The high light of the night was when Steve was hand feeding a Pelican and it decided to stay onboard. I was called to the deck by crew. I could hardly believe what was going on. The Pelican decided to land on deck and stay. Many pictures were taken, but then another Pelican decided to land and stay onboard. We were all very impressed that the Pelicans let us pet them, feed them, and take pics with them. We all had a great trip. Captain Tim Burke |
