Well, October is finally over and I get a chance to relax a little. It has though always amazed me that so many divers just quit hunting for bugs after October. They really are here the entire season.
As I said in an earlier post some of the best things about the GE is the people and crew that come and go. Roy Kaiser once told me not to scoff at anyone for saying they did this or that, or they are someone famous as they could be that person.
To that end I have had the fortune to have met a few famous people and some very interesting ones also. Case in point. A set of twins have been coming out on the boat now for about 9 months. They come out us every chance they get and are, how should I put this, very entertaining. They are from Joysie, and every now and then the accent really kicks in. Yesterday I was told a joke by one of them that goes like this. “Do you know how a New Yorker learns the alphabet? Fu****g A, Fu*****B, ect with a very deep Joysie accent. The entire boat was rolling. They have also become monsters for bug hunting. When they first came on the boat I was getting very frustrated because I could not find dumb enough bugs for them to catch. So we started a vigorous training program to teach them how to catch bugs. After many attempts to teach them I finally have to start talking Joysie to them. I told not the catch the bugs, but to “Whak the Fu**** bugs”. This seemed to do the trick as now they come up from most dives very excited with bugs. Now I just have to teach them the difference between Bugs and Shrimp. They are having a little trouble telling them apart.
Of course I am picking on Art and Mike. As all of you know that have been on the boat I try to treat everybody the same. Pick on all of you; just for fun of course.
