Ship's log 12/16/02

Just a quick update. Bill's son came home over the weekend and is stable.
And as promised a dive report. As this weekend came close our friends on TV promised gloom and doom. Many divers called to see if I was going to cancel the trip and I said no. "But the weatherman said………" We left at 1 am on Saturday and after getting to the break wall, I turned the boat over to Captain Mike. It was like a lake. First dive was at East End Reef at San Clemente Island. Vis was great; water was 65' at the surface. Second dive was inside Pyramid Cove and again vis was great. The third and forth dive was at Little Flower. Very good diving here. If you have never been to Little Flower, it is a great dive. The spot is named after the wreck, although very little is left, and there is a channel out a little ways that is great. At the top it is 40' and the bottom 130'. Many times I have just stopped at the top and looked over the side a watched. Amazing what goes by. The trip home was also very nice.
Sunday, many more calls to see if we were going. Again yes. There was a huge swell, but a very long time in between swells so it hardly mattered. First dive was at Bird Rock. Very nice with about 40' vis. Second was at Yellow Tail Point. Vis just ok. The last dive back to Isthmus Reef. Vis was great. A very nice way to end the year.
I hope everyone has a great holiday, eats too much, drinks too much, but stay out of trouble and have a great time. See you next year.
Ian, Kendel, Bill, and Tim.
