Ship's log 1/13/1/02 I received an email a few weeks ago about not going to SBI to see the Sea Lion Pups. I had forgotten about that. I made a call to Claira, of Sport Chalet and recommended SBI. We had a full boat and headed out of the harbor at 02:00. On the way out we hit something, a sound that is ominous. Fortunately, there was no damage and we continued. The Sea god's where once again with us. A very smooth crossing to SBI. We made our first dive at East End Kelp, except that the kelp is gone. Dave Clark, a DM for SP found a very interesting cave. We will check it out to see if it is safe to go back to, and grabbed two fat bugs from it. The second dive was at White Cave. Ken Hill, another DM grabbed two bugs here. There was a little serge, but over all a good dive. Then we moved to the outside of Suttle Island. I dropped the anchor in 50' and the boat was in 150'. The bottom terrain here is some of the best anywhere. Many divers saw bugs along the wall and enjoyed the steep drop offs. The forth dive of the day was at rookery, we moved in very close, for all to see the sea lions. Sunday we were off to San Clemente, this time with Reef Seekers. Again the Sea gods were with us. A little bump and roll on the way over, but not too bad. The first dive was at East End Reef. The first dive was so good, we made a second here. It is a great dive, top at 20' and the bottom 150'. Fantastic walls. Unfortunately, no Black Sea Bass were seen, but no one complained. The third dive was at Little Flower, and all enjoyed there, with vis being at least 40'. The last dive was at "Hawk Rock Reef" a spectacular spot that Pam from the "Encore" told me about. And she was right, everyone loved it.
